1.2.1 – Configuring Edit+ for java

How to configure java in edit+:

Edit+ is a commonly used editor by the learners of HTML, JavaScript, VBScript, XML, PHP and java. By default edit+ doesn’t provide any tools to compile and execute a java program. We need to install JDK and must configure edit+ for java tools like java compiler, java executable and applet viewer etc. We will see step by step procedure of configuring edit+ for java compiler (javac) and java executable (java).

  • Install JDK as explained in the previous session 1.1.1 – Installation of JDK on Windows
  • Install the edit+ software
  • Configure edit+ user tools to compile and execute a Java program as explained below

Open the edit+
Select Tools – Configure user tools…

Creating Java compiler tool (Ctrl+1)

Add Tool>> – program to add a new tool

Menu Text: Java compiler
Command: c:\jdk1.8.0\bin\javac.exe [Select javac manually from the browse button […]

Argument: $(FileName) [Select File Name from Arrow down button]

Initial Directory: $(FileDir) [Select File Directory from Arrow down button] Select Apply

Creating Java Executable Tool (Ctrl+2)

Select Add Tool>> – Program to add a new tool
Menu Text : Java Executable
Command: c:\jdk1.8.0\bin\java.exe [Select java manually from browse button …]

Argument: $(FileNameNoExt) [Select File Name Without Extension from Arrow down button]

Initial Directory: $(FileDir) [Select File Directory from Arrow down button] Select Apply
